Over time from the start of my AS media course my skills have developed massively from someone with little idea of what they are doing in the media industry to someone who is now fully capable of deconstructing and creating texts in media. This can be shown through the development of the quality of my practical work. My first video was (granted funny) however it lacked various factors from the text that we were copying, or example the Mise en scene was terrible as we failed to recreate the costumes, and also the quality of the acting wasn't great either, with people laughing in the background. So as you can see in the two images below out very first task was very rough, and lacked discipline. You can see just from the images that nearly every shot was improvised with people clearly laughing and smiling in the shot as we didn't have a fixed idea on what we were actually doing.
This compared with the last text that I made in my A2 course shows a dramatic increase in skills in the production side of my practical. Our final task (which was a music video) featured on the beat editing, good acting, great Mise en scene and a greatly improved use of camera work. As you can see in the images below each shot that we used was carefully positioned so it appeared that the sofa was in the same place in each frame, so it didn't jump about on the screen. We also took some time to pic out our locations for where we shot and also how we shot it so people would be able to recognize the location if they had ever been there.
I have thoroughly enjoyed this course and I really think it has given me some very good skills for later life.
