Moving the sofa as The wheels failed:'(

Production stills

For this scene we are filming a hooded man (actor Sammy Blackmore) slouched on the sofa up against a brick wall. The camera focus we have used for this scene is drifting in and out of focus to represent the character feeling sleepy and drifting unconscious.

for this image we used the image of two girls sleeping on a sofa under a bridge (actors Maryke Butler and Millie Morris) The image it creates is supposed to look shady as if two people were at a party or a festival and had no where else to sleep and that they were just waking up.

Attaching wheels to the sofa

As Jack and I have started filming we have encountered a few problems when it comes to transporting the sofa around. The sofa is possible to be carried however it takes a long time and isn't the pleasantest of experiences.
So we have decided to do a bit of D.I.Y on our beloved sofa.
 

We have taken the bottom of the sofa apart in order to find a way to put on a set of wheels that are the similar sort to the ones you find on a trolley in Tesco.
 
This in theory should allow us to push the trolley around quicker and with ease compared to having to carry it around everywhere. Hopefully as easily as this pug here.
Here are some images of Jack and I basically tearing the sofa apart in order to fit these wheels.

First day of fiming

Today we had our first filming session.
It lasted 40mins and we managed to get around about 1min of footage.
We made a set for our first shot by scrapping away leaves in front of the sofa for a less distracting scene. (Better and cleaner Mise en Scene)

Here in the image you can see that we did have to take up some other peoples time in order to set up and film as quickly and as productively as possible. Isaac here was helping us rake up leaves along with Luke (not in image)

 

Once we had piles the leaves onto both sides of the set ready to be thrown we had a clean shot ready to be filmed of the sofa with background full off Autumn colours of brown leaves and green grass with a little bit of Grayish blue skyline. 

We then filmed and experimented with how we wanted the leaves to move into the shot and interact with the subject sitting on the Sofa, which in this case was Tom Joyce who at the time was wearing brown/black and warm looking clothing to fit the scene.

This clip shows one of our experiments with the way we wanted he leaves to enter the frame.
Overtime the leaves would pile up on the floor giving this particular scene a sense of time as with each time we include this location in the music video the more leaves appear.

In this clip we had the leaves enter the frame with one actor dropping them onto the others head in slow motion for a longer shot and also to add a calmer pace to the video if need to be. For example when the music slows down or becomes quieter.

Audience reponse to second animatic

Today we showed the second version of our animatic to our media class.
The result was a massive success. They loved the way that the shots were in the rhythm with the beat of the music. They also loved the numerous locations and gestures taking place in the shots. 
Now we just need to focus on actually filming the task.

More location shots

Today we set out to look at some new locations that we were thinking about using in our music video.
We set out for a county style sort of look. So we looked for images that dhow country side and nature combined with a human influence. The macs that we have pictured above are going to have images of natural landscapes to help with this theme involved.

Positioning of the sofa

We started to look at how we were going to position the sofa in each individual shot for our music video. (Now that we finally have a sofa) we can see what proportion of the frame that we want the sofa to take up.
In this video we discuss what methods we are going to use to achieve this and how we are going to keep the video as simple as possible to avoid confusion.
