There are 3 important variables that will lead to us choosing the right sofa:
-Size
-Colour
-Price
The size of the sofa is important as it determines how much of the frame it is going to take up and also how many people are going to fit onto it. It also lets us know how difficult it is going to be to carry a sofa around with us from location to location to location.
We want to be able to fit 4 people onto our sofa as a maximum. If we have more people in one shot its going to confuse the audience as they wont be able to take in the characters appearances. This would mean that two or three seated sofa would be perfect as we can play around with lonely people sitting by themselves or friends all trying to squeeze onto a small seat.
The colour of our sofa is also going to be very important.
We have two options when it comes to colour either we have a vibrantly coloured sofa that stands out to the audience as it has more character or we can have a plain white sofa which doesn't attract as much attention almost like a blank canvas for the people to sit on to provide story and meaning.
And lastly the price of the sofa needs to fall into our budget... and this being a student film is not much. So we will be looking to be spending under £20 on our sofa. As soo n as we get the sofa we can start filming.
