I looked at Pete's media blog toady and looked at the post from February 14th 2014 about whether or not Media studies exists and specifically focused on how the news is reported on Television.
For one the videos that he links his blog to are very funny and make a very good point at the fact that news programs always seem to report news in the same way in different country's mainly being the UK and the USA. And they do report the news in different style which you defiantly notice.
We'll start with the UK.
The video that Pete uses is one of Charlie Brooker's work (I'll link it below)
He goes into detail explaining how the UK reports individual news stories to its audiences whilst as it looks like he is actually reporting a news story. Naturally he is joking around a little bit revealing all of the codes and conventions that the news use in every story that they broadcast.
This is all done in a stereotypical English fashion in being very polite and showing how the news reports stories to us that, lets face it don't effect many of us at a time so they don't really scare or aware us about the story we just know it exists.
The US takes a different approach and seem to take a much more exaggerated take on the news making the everyday problem which everyone sees on TV at least twice a week.
They seem to scare the audience more instead of delivering numbered facts and using confusing graphs which no one really has time to study instead of the BBC bullet point statistics put conveniently on a background where the Computer generated numbers interact with the environment behind them. The US also shows ways to avoid things if they happen again like Zombie survival tips or something near to useless to make the situation look more dramatic.
