What have you learned from audience feedback?
Audience feedback was by far one of the most important things that we had use when it came to improving our media products. We used it all the way through our A2 course so that we could get a step by step acknowledgement that we were doing the right or wrong thing in our audiences opinion. Arguably the audiences opinion is the most important feature of media itself because if there was no audience there wouldn't be any point in media at all.
We tried to interact with our audience as much as possible going through each and every shot with them to see if they like them or not. We did this to individuals or presented our ideas to a class sized audience for feedback before recording what we had learned onto our blogs and then acting apon it.
We mainly got our audience feedback through face to face conversations and presentations to larger groups. This was good as we got more detailed answers than if someone were to simply comment online about a music video with only a very brief and vague statement. We also filmed some of our audiences feedback so we could show people actually reacting to our products on our blogs.
We would record our feedback that we received and then we reflected on it simply by talking to each other in the group suggesting ways that we could fix problems or even implement audience ideas that we liked as well.
We did use questionnaires at one point for audience feedback however we only did this once as the answers we got were quite vague so we didn't really know what we needed to improve on or how much we needed to improve it. So for this reason we stuck to getting human face to face feedback.
Our audience had huge access to our media products with nearly all of our scenes being posted onto youtube along with continuous new drafts of our music video. This allowed them to really judge our product and provide feedback when we saw them.
People really like the style of the music video with the continuous change of scenery and people however there were mixed opinions on the music that we used. Some people liked the rock genre and some people didn't. However the vast majority of people did like our music video and the style we used however they were not urged to start following the artist or genre.
People saw our product compared to the likes of a real media product from a film making industry to be quite similar with good quality filming and narrative. The thing that separated the two though was the re usage of cast throughout the video. This looked a little bit unprofessional and wouldn't be a problem in a larger scale project and better access tore sources like in a film production company.
